The second race of the Dutch aquathlon circuit took place in Bergen op Zoom last Saturday. There where Belgians usually dominate, Syb De Jong broke the curse. Last years winner of the 250/2.5 participated and won in this years 500/5. The long distance was a Belgian succes by Lars Baeyens. Jolien Vermeylen was the fastest woman on the short race.
With a 3'02 split, Syb De Jong created the base for last years victory. This year he exited the pool in 6'13, a fex seconds behind Belgian leader Stef Coninx. It wasn't before long that Syb took the lead. Chris Steenbakker opened the chase, but fell 21 seconds short and came in second. Coninx ended on third. The Wuustwezel triathlete does take the lead in the overall ranking as he leaves Sem Lazaroms behind.
The female overall ranking is lead by Jolien Vermeylen. The Averbode based triathlete took the win in both Vlissingen and in Bergen op Zoom. It was a complete reproduction of the podium, with Eva Cornelisse on second and Nelleke Baldé on third.
Arno Lambrecht takes the lead
On the long distance overall ranking, KZK swimmer Arno Lambrechts takes the lead. Exiting the water in 12'06 he was shortly followed by Lars Baeyens. Lambrechts had a strong run, but was no match for Baeyens, who took the win for SolidPharma Team. Lars won in 48'36, Lambrechts came in second with more than 2 minutes. Sander de Bart came in third and first Dutch.
Lynn Lossie was the only female to break the one hour barrier. She won in 59'34, Petra Sloots second in 1hr01'20 and Emke Erpelick third in 1hr03'32. With two second places, Petra Sloots moves to the leader position in the overall ranking.
