Good day friends and to all of my fellow steemians.
Volleybal is one of the best physical exercise and sports, let's play Volleyball.
- Volleyball Physical Education.
Volleyball is considered as one of the popular sports played by both males and females in the country today. It is popular because it is a non contact indoor or outdoor sport that requires inexpensive equipment and a limited space. It can be played in any open area although it is also often enjoyed on beaches, in backyards, gymnasium and parks. The sport is played by two teams that involves tapping or "volleying" an inflated ball back and forth over a net, largely with the use of the hands or sometimes with any part of the body.
The object of the games is to serve the ball over the net in order to ground it on the opponent's court and to prevent the same effort by the opponent. Points are scored by the serving team when the other team fails to return the ball properly over the net or when the ball is grounded on the opponent's playing court.
In Volleyball, there are (6) players on each team. The players rotate from one zone to another in a clockwise movement until each set is finished.
Volleyball is composed of (5) basic skills, namely:
- Underhand Passing
- Overhand Passing
- Serving
- Spiking
- Blocking
- The Underhand Pass
The underhand pass, also commonly called forearm pass, dig pass or underhand reception is one of the skills used in volleyball. There are three (3) aspects involved in the execution of the underhand pass, namely: 1) the volleyball stance, 2) the ball contact, and 3) the follow through.
- The Overhand Pass
The overhand pass is another basic skill in volleyball. Normally the pass is performedbby any playernin the team who tosses the ball to a teammate either to make a pass or to set up the ball for an attack. Similar to the underhand pass, there are three (3) aspects involved in the execution of the skill. These are 1)the overhead stance, 2)the ball contact, and 3)the follow through.
- The Serve Skill
In volleyball, the serve is perhaps the most important skill to master. This is because the service skill provides the advantage of earning a point for the team. It also serves as a first line of attack against an opposing team especially if the type of serve that is executed by the server is difficult to recieve. For a serve to be legal, the player should stay within the designated service area; propel the ball to the air using the serving hand; let the ball pass clearly over the net without touching any obstacle; and ground the ball within the opponent's court.
There are atleast four types of serve, namely: 1)the underhand serve, 2)the side serve, 3)the overhead serve, and 4)the spike serve. Each of this services has variation in execution. Some are executed with a ball spin while some are without a ball spin. For beginners, the underhand serve or side serve is gihly recommended. Overhead serve may also be performed although it basically requires a strong upper arm with a good hand-eye coordination to be able to propel the ball to the other side of the court. More recently, the spike serve or jump serve has gained wide acceptance among advanced players and coaches because of its elegant offensive approach. However, the spike serve not only requires a strong upper arm but also requires an advanced level of skill and technique on the part of the server.
- The Spike or Attack
This is the strategy used to send the ball over the net to the opponent in such a manner that ball is not returnable. A volleyball spike is hit with great force a downward angle. This is considered the most effective way to win rally.
And lastly!
- The Block
Refers to the actions taken by players standing at the net to stop or alter an opponent's attack.
3 TYPES OF BLOCKING
- Solo block
- Double block
- Triple block
