The Heisman Trophy is awarded to the best College football player in America annually in December. This award is one that stays with you and precedes your name forever. An elite group of athletes are in this club and most of them have gone on to have fantastic professional careers. This year was as good as ever, except the three finalists were all quarterbacks.
The ceremony is always a tense situation because of the prestige of this trophy. One could make a good case why each one of these guys should deserve to win but the voting was unanimous by a wide margin this year. Kyler Murray, quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners had an amazing year with more big plays that you could remember. His size is a deterrent for the NFL but a couple in the NFL game are having much success as an undersized QB. Murray in my opinion is still a first round draft pick talent but, he’s actually decided to play professional baseball. He was offered a 30+ million dollar to play professional baseball but turned it down for his final year of college. Can you even imagine being a college kid and the guy yelling at you in practice (Lincoln Riley the head coach) does not even make as much money as you if you just signed your name on a dotted line? What an awesome feeling that must be for a young man.
I personally believe Haskins from Ohio State is the best player in the Nation and he finished third. As a Broncos fan and a team who needs a QB in the next two years, I would be thrilled to have Haskins on our roster. His size, length, arm strength, durability and clutch performances are adorned by many NFL fans.
Congratulations Kyler Murray on this outstanding achievement. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and heart to stand on that stage with that trophy. You earned it.
