The Babolat PLAY tennis racket is not like any normal racket.
I know tennis rackets have come a long way these days from the old wooden style and natural gut strings but this racket seems to be taking that next step.
Basically it has a sensor in the bottom of the racket’s handle with an actual USB port and a couple of buttons!
What the sensor does is record data on the player’s performance with the racket. So for example it collects information such as power, topspin, serving speed, smashes, backhands, forehands, volleys etc.
The data can then be shared to an app where you can study how you have played in a match and look at what parts of your game need improving. Now this sounds awesome to me!

When you are playing a game of tennis you will often get sucked into the game especially if you are competitive! Often you will not notice the little things you may be doing that might be hampering your game or the things you could be doing to improve it.
Having these stats available after a game or even on the practice court will give you a direct feedback and analysis of your game! Plus I think there is a feature where you can share your data with other people on the app so this would be great to let other people give you suggestions of how and where to improve!
I have been looking at purchasing one of these lately and may go ahead with it and give it a review in a later post. Although the price is a few hundred pounds so I’ll have to check out a few more reviews of it first.
