It was always going to be hard for the Lions and everyone knew that especially with the fact the All blacks had not lost at Eden Park since 1994. In the end New Zealand beat the British and Irish Lions 30-15 with help from tries by Rieko Ioane and Codie Taylor.
Still personally I hoped the score line would have been closer and that they could have edged a win. In the end a last minute try by the Lions made the score look a little more respectable.
To be fair it could have been more from the All Blacks, they played really well and took their chances when it mattered. They were strong at the scrum and as I said in a previous post, the Lion's discipline would be key but alas they gave away unnecessary penalties.
The Lions did have chances and did manage a fantastic try by Sean O'Brien starting from with their own 22. However the skill and pace of the All Blacks was just awesome to watch at times and they just always looked like they could handle whatever the Lions could throw at them.
So on to the next Test at Wellington. It will be tough now for the Lions to win the series but if they can keep their discipline, do the basics well and be clinical when they get any point scoring chances then they will be in with a shot.
