Lonzo ball, the sneaker free agent. As most of us know, in April: Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour decided to pass on Lavar Ball’s unreasonable expectation for his sons first shoe deal (1 billion dollar + change is the price for the Ball brothers).
As a result, the Ball family decided to go independent and create the ZO2, a $495USD sneaker by the Big Baller Brand.
To cut to the chase and skip the BS, this was strictly a business move made by Lonzo’s dad, Lavar. The attention he has brought to his son, whether good or bad is increasing their value. This decision leaves several doors open for Lonzo and Lavar seems to be very confident in his son.
“I know I’m on the right step because if nothing like this ain’t happened in 100 years, then guess what?” Ball said.
Fast forward a few months, and Lavar’s other prediction becomes reality. Lonzo Ball, a Los Angeles Laker. Now, Zo is on the team he wanted to play on with the freedom to wear any sneaker he wants. Summer league is now underway, and Lonzo is definitely making the most of this luxury. He’s also playing pretty well so far.
Lets see if and when this publicity stunt lands Lonzo Ball with a sneaker deal his father is willing to agree with.
From the small sample size below, it looks like Nike would be a great fit for Lonzo, lol.
