BARCELONA are lining up a summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.
According to Germany’s Bild, Barcelona's sports director Robert Fernandez met with Ousmane Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, last weekend. There has already been rumors of Barça’s interest reported in France’s L’Equipe, but this goes a step further.
Barcelona wanted Dembele since last season, but he chose Borussia Dortmund instead to get more playing time. Dortmund bought him at a bargain price of 15 million euros from Stade Rennes, and Dembele exploded onto the scene.
The winger who gave the England defence the runaround in Paris last week is reported to be unhappy with the departure of Thomas Tuchel, who signed him from Rennes last summer.
BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke and manager Michael Zorc are said to see “no reason to sell him this season,” which could make the situation quite difficult for Barça.
Dembele, who has a contract until 2021, scored ten goals in 49 appearances as Dortmund finished third in the Bundesliga last season.
The Catalans may have to come in with a mega offer that breaks the Bundesliga transfer record set by Manchester City’s 75 million euro purchase of Kevin de Bruyne. Such a record-breaking offer could reach 90 million euros
