When it comes to winter running I am a big baby, so I end up running on my treadmill, which is boring to me. Fortunately the snow has all melted and we are sitting at a balmy +4*C I just couldn't resist this rare opportunity to run outside mid winter season! Laced up and away I went :) I would much prefer to run on a hiking trail but right now that would be a big sloppy mess, street run it is!
Something that completely changed my running experience was learning how to tie my running shoes with a Heel Lock When I started running many years ago I found I would always end up with painful blisters on my heel or on the balls of my feet. After learning this trick I never got anymore blisters, even on long distance runs.
Tying your shoes in a Heel Lock will prevent your heel/foot rubbing in your shoe and create a more snug fit. Also helps stop your toe from driving into the end of your shoes, no need to be losing toenails for the sake of running now ;)
Here's a video demonstration that I found by The North Face so you can try it out for yourself.
