Becoming a champion is every fighters dream, Darren Till is no exception, coming into this fight with huge hype and the whole country of fans behind him is not something we can say for Tyron Woodley who had his fair share of issues in the past when it comes to being the fan favorite. Don't get me wrong, everyone loves to see him fight but his personality throws a lot of people off. But what to expect from a champion other than confidence to its fullest.
Tyron Woodley came into this fight as a slight underdog to young undefeated Darren Till.
Till is a big boy who cuts a lot of weight, missing weight against Stephen Thompson got a lot of people doubting if he'll even make the weight this time. From my observation, he really gets super lean to get down to 170Lbs but he made the championship weight in the first try and even had a gift for all the doubters. The middle fingers:)
Through hole fight camp Woodley had no doubts he'll fight Till no matter the weight. Both predicted knockouts in round 2 and 3, both talked a confident game leading up to the fight. I had mixed feelings about who to pick but ended up with Till.
What followed next was a one-sided beatdown so...
Woodley came a little reserved in his last few fights and I'm sure a lot of people didn't expect he'll come as aggressive as he did tonight. But he did and gave everyone hell of a show, a dominant performance over Darren Till.
Early in the second round, he stunned Till with a beautiful right hand and almost finished him on the ground with some brutal ground in pound but heads off to Till for staying in there. Woodley secured a darce choke less than a minute away from the bell.
AND STILL!
Tyron is now also officially a BJJ black belt after this huge win! Congrats Bossman!
