Following a typical Minnesota Wild performance on the second night of a back to back in Dallas on Saturday, the Minnesota Wild were back at it on the ice for practice today.
Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau doesn't sound like a man feeling the pressure of being on the outside looking in and continuing to lose key match-ups to divisional rivals who are also chasing playoff hockey. Here are some key quotes from Boudreau following practise.
On the loss in Dallas:
“I don’t want to use that game as a barometer. We’ve been doing pretty good up to that point. Now it’s time to bounce back.”
“Gotta play better. I don’t know if there’s anything profound about anything. It’s just gotta play better and find a way to win.”
On giving up goals on both Dallas power plays:
“I don’t want to say that we don’t need to fix it because we do. But at the same time, the Pittsburgh game, two of them we put in our own net. The Vegas game at home one goes off somebody’s butt. Every little thing is going wrong. The zone time, they’re not killing us except the one power play they had last game in zone time. It’s just that everything being shot at this stage is not working out for us. So I think it’s a little bit of confidence but you get that back on track, and you’ll be fine.”
A little off topic, but Bruce Boudreau also had some more to say around Super Bowl LII in Minnesota.
On whether he watched the game:
“Duh. It was a great game.”
His only complaint however?
“I wish they would’ve mentioned St. Paul a little bit more. They always talked about Minneapolis. I think St. Paul is proud of themselves and the way they acted and the things they did for the Super Bowl. I’m pretty proud to be living here.”
The Minnesota Wild head to St Louis tomorrow for another key matchup against a divisional rival who is currently above them in the standings.
Enjoy the game!
