($14 Million? That's a lot of STEEM...)
After freshly inking a two-year extension to his existing contract with the New England Patriots, Julian Edelman hopes to continue his winning ways. His club that has won two Super Bowl rings in the last three years. It is likely that $10+ million of Edelman's contract is guaranteed, including the $9 million due for his services in the upcoming 2017 season.
Edelman played a big part in each of the two Super Bowl victories, famously making the following insane catch in their epic comeback against the Atlanta Falcons.
Edelman was the Patriots leading receiver in 2016, snagging 96 receptions for over 1100 yards. Even with his newfound riches, he'll have trouble repeating those numbers in 2017.
The Patriots have invested heavily in the receiver position, adding star-in-the-making Brandin Cooks to an already crowded wideout room. Cooks, Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola, Malcolm Mitchell, Andrew Hawking and Austin Carr will be battling it out for roster positions and playing time.
Quarterback Tom Brady always espouses that the "open receiver" is always his favorite receiver, but it is tough to argue that there isn't a special bond between Edelman and Brady.
