The rich just get richer.
With the shock retirement of longtime Oklahoma Football coach Bob Stoops today, the power in the college football ranks has become even more concentrated.
As it stands now, only four active head coaches in the FBS have fit themselves for a championship ring and held up the shiny trophy.
Urban Meyer (Ohio State/Florida - 2006, 2008, 2014)
Jimbo Fisher (Florida State - 2013)
Dabo Swinney (Clemson - 2016)
Nick Saban (Alabama/LSU - 2003, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015)

This sort of football hegemony is not good for the sport. Recruits love the spotlight of the College Football Playoff and when only a few chosen coaches can promise that exposure, the best teams just keep getting better.
The top teams already routinely have the best recruiting classes, Stoops' departure will only further concentrate the talent.
Alabama had the number one recruiting class in 2017, followed by - you guessed it - Ohio State at number two. Florida Stated ranked sixth, while Clemson was 18th. Oklahoma's class was ranked seventh, but could drop dramatically if recruits look for greener pastures.
