I'm hitting the cash tables
I managed to run what was left of the cash I had on site one up to three figures again. I was on a nice roll but today seen my straight get smashed by a flush on the river in a sizable pot at 10NL (max buy in $10). There was $20 in the pot and my opponent had $2 behind when they shoved all in on the river. I put them on the flush draw and bet near $7 on the turn to get them to fold but they decided to chase anyways. I do need to make some adjustments. If I jammed turn the site would have offered me insurance for the hand. I need to take such things into account for future hands. Anyways; I'm not folding a straight to $2 in a $20 pot just because there is a flush possibility. There is always a chance my read might be wrong. This time it was not. Another pot nearing $25 was lost when I had an over-pair and a gut shot. Unfortunately my opponent was set mining and hit and the rest is history just like my funds in these two pots.
QQ (Heck Yeah: I'll play that)
Nearing the end of my session just as I was going to click sit out with $35 at the table. Netting me +$5 in profit I'm dealt QQ. UTG min raises/ middle position calls/ I raise 5X. Both players call. It's the player in first position that I was most worried about. I continuation bet with my over pair. The player in first position folds. I figured that be the end of the hand but the player in middle position calls. The board pairs and is showing two eights. There's now potential flush draws on the board. Opponent checks to me and I pot it. I was worried they might gotten frisky preflop with a hand like 89 suited and if they did I suppose it's likely I'm about to get stacked. River comes and any potential flush draw misses. I jam all in/ my opponent tanks. The longer they tank the more I think I got the best hand. I figured they snap call me with any 8 considering how the hand played out. They eventually find the call and turn over a very well hidden AA. Well played sir; nice call. While this most recent session didn't work out for us we still sit with $68 USD at Site one which is allot better than $10.
Set vs. Straight: $48.10 pot at 10NL goes our way!
Lets share a winner. It's not all doom and gloom. A hefty pot at 10NL.
Grinding 10NL
Why are we grinding 10NL when our strategy is to play freebuys for tournament tickets? Yesterday under my promo section I noticed some promotional offers. I need to rake between $5 - $250 within the next three weeks to qualify for multiple draws. At least one of which the top prize is a $1050 ticket. So far we managed to reach milestone 2 ($25 in rake paid). We are well on our way to milestone 3 with nearing $33 total rake paid. We will have to maintain our roll if we want to reach milestone 6 ($250 paid in rake). Doing so playing freebuys won't get us there. We won't go busto chasing this though. If we dip below $20 we will stop the 10NL grind and go back to implementing our original mtt strategy. While this promo is appealing its not the only reason why we are shot taking at 10NL. We have also managed to move to level two of the rake structure. We were getting 15% rakeback but have been bumped to 17%. To be granted that 17% rakeback I need to rake at least $60 within 28 days. So both these promos line up with each other nicely.
So many Promos
While both those promos would have been enough to get me to hit the cash tables there is yet a third promotion I am being offered. A surprise promo; well I be darned. I might be a grown-ass-man but dangle a carrot such as this in front of me along side the other two promo's and I'm in. Clicking the secret offer I find out that its not all that secret after-all. Inside the details of the promo it tells me exactly what I'm going to get and what I need to do to qualify. As with the other two promos I need to rake a certain amount. For this "secret promo" I need to rake $125 USD in the next 6 days. Doing so gives me a gntd prize varying from a $5.50 ticket (16% chance), $11 ticket (71% chance), or a $109 ticket (3% chance). I currently have $39 of those dollars raked. All these promo's run at the same time. Making right now the perfect time for me to grind the cash tables. I will have to tighten up my game as I only have six buy ins for 10NL. If I manage to clear all these I suspect I will easily exceed a 100% rakeback return. Meaning I will receive back all my raked paid to the site (or more).
That's it for now: time to hit the tables.
