El partido fue disputado en el Rostov Arena, y estuvo muy bien por parte de las dos selecciones pero al final los mexicanos lograron superar a los sur-coreanos.
Hubieron muchas ocasiones de las cuales se defendían muy bien cada uno de los conjuntos, pero gracias a un penalti debido a una mano producida por el defensa Jang Hyun-Soo y que Carlos Vela no perdonaría para abrir el marcador uno por cero en el 26'.
Y en una ocasión de contra-ataque Chicharito tras un pase al hueco de Hirving Lozano amagaría al defensa y marcaría por debajo del brazo del portero para dar el dos por cero.
Ahí sería cuando todo está algo perdido para Corea del Sur, pero en el minuto 90'+3 Heung Min Son marcaría el gol del honor para su selección.
Finalmente terminaron ganando los aztecas.
