Oh what a night it was in Minnesota. The former SUPERSTAR from Chicago, Derrick Rose, exploded for a career high 50 point game as he took the court for the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was the best game of Rose's career. And it came during the perfect storm.
Rose played his high school ball in Chicago. He won state Championships. He played his college ball at Memphis. He won a National Championship. He was the #1 pick in the NBA Draft by his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls. He won Rookie of the Year. He became the youngest NBA MVP in league history at 22 years old. And he had season ending surgery on his knee 3 times.
After considering retirement, the now 30 year old Rose signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is playing for his former coach, Tom Thibadeu. He is playing with his former teammates, Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson. And last night was the perfect storm.
Jimmy Butler was out, along with point guard Jeff Teague. The Timberwolves were at home against the Utah Jazz. The Jazz cut Rose last year without even giving him a chance. So last night Derrick Rose gave us a glimpse of what could have been. He was a beast. He was phenomenal.
So what's next for Rose? He got up 31 shots last night and scored 50 points. But with coach Thibs insert him into the starting line-up? We will find out tomorrow!
CHEERS!
