Guy who won last rally of the season 2106 (Australia) lost his job when VW retired from WRC.
This season he drove two rallies in WRC2 category with Škoda and won both of them: Monte Carlo and Corsica.
News are good for Mikkelsen. First he had very serious negotiations with Toyota but now Hyundai gave him a possibility to test their 2017 car and maybe a contract for all the European rallies of WRC.
Rumours say that he will test the car on Friday and after that if both parties agree, he will be on entry list for next rally in Portugal.
It also must be said that Mikkelsen has very strong management - Even Management - and it was matter of time when he'll be back in top category of WRC.
