A sequence of pictures from a relay MTB race held on the outskirts of Delhi, where there were teams of two. One member of the team would do a loop and at the start-finish line the baton would be handed over.
The handover would have to be extremely smooth and fast, else the teams waste precious seconds. The incoming rider is rocketing down a slope and has to brake just the right amount to be at the same speed as the teammate. This was the smoothest handover which I saw during the race.
The baton in question is a GPS timing device. This helps ensure that everyone was on track and didn't try taking any shortcuts. The rides are then uploaded to Strava and the winner is declared. That is why Strava is our race marshall!
Of course no one tries cheating, because this is a friendly amateur race and the winner gets a dozen bananas, which s/he has to share with everyone else!
This team was a mixture of Japanese precision and German efficiency!
