Now onto the News, Rumors, and Commentary…
“The Giants have placed reliever Jake McGee on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. ““I just felt like Solano was the best option,” Kapler said. “Well, that’s the first time I’ve pulled a ball in the big leagues,” Gausman said. This is what I’ve been waiting for all year, and, of course, I pitched this day and Gaus gets it.’” “That was the first thing he said when I got in the clubhouse,” Gausman said, laughing. Probably the birth of my two children and then that.” Gausman said he initially wasn’t sure if he hit the ball deep enough to score Crawford, as one look at his spray chart reveals his tendency to go to left field for his knocks.”
“Belt smashed another homer in the first inning Friday, and this one naturally landed in the glove of a Giants fan wearing a taped “C” on his chest. A week ago, Brandon Belt took it upon himself to become the unofficial “captain” of the Giants when he sensed a leadership void despite the club owning the best record in baseball. So teammate Evan Longoria took the initiative to form a “C” on Belt’s jersey using electrical tape. So did Belt, who doubled and homered while sporting the “C” on his chest in the Giants’ 6-1 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field last Friday.”
“We’re going to take that very seriously and try to get him ready and healthy as soon as we can.” “I don’t think we have to be super strict to those three, but they’re three that are capable of covering that inning,” Kapler said. “It wouldn’t necessarily be two-plus [innings], but it might be something like five outs,” Kapler said. “As good as Estrada has been for us, Solano is a very good pinch-hit at-bat and a veteran,” Kapler said. “I don’t think it’s any secret that Rogers has been one of our better relievers all year, so if we needed somebody to throw the ninth, I think he’s totally capable of that.”
“Sept. Sept. Sept. Sept.”
