Next Monday will make for some watching. Two managers are under pressure. It is safe to say that Emery is having an up and down season so far. Arsenal's defence is a shambles. They did well on Sunday to come from 2 goals behind after a disaster in defence yet again against Aston Villa. They came from 2 goals behind at Tottenham and came back and drew also. Things are not right at Arsenal. They have conceded the most shots on goal this season than any other team. It is a shambles.

I like Emery. He did well sidelining Ozil and bringing in a fresh new look but I am beginning to think this manager is a bridge for someone new at Arsenal. Emery was a surprise appointment at the time. The Arsenal board decided to play it safe. There was a moment where they were going to take a chance with Mikel Arteta. But both the club and the Manchester City number 2 decided it was a bit too soon and a bit too risky. Many thought Allegri the next appointment but he stayed and won another title at Juventus. He is now unemployed.
The difference in style is an ocean away from Wengers. One analyst described his style as defensive but with a weak defence which is adequate. Arsenal speak about their legacy and playing style. With Emery it doesn't look like they are keeping to that mantra.

Another thing about Emery is that he is effectively a coach which is great. He doesn't have to charisma of Klopp, the intelligence of Pep or the personality of Pochettino so media may see him as somewhat wooden which will not bode well for when they have a few bad games. You can even see that at the moment. He still has the players inside but his training methods are seen as boring and repetitive.
Next Mondays game is crucial. Ole Gunnar is on thin ice as well. But Uniteds problems are deeper. Arsenals squad looks like it is growing but when Rashford went off injured last Sunday and Jesse Lingard was his replacement then you could see clearly that Manchester Uniteds transfer policy is a shambles. This is not Ole Gunnars fault. It is Woodwards. With no director of football it is hard to know who is involved in buying the players. It is rumoured that they are still working off Mourinho's list. United need a director of football to create a link between management and board. Looking at Woodward in the stands telling Phil Jones to shut up after he made a quip about Ole being sacked in the morning just goes to show how comical the situation is.
Jones should be nowhere near the United chairman. United press office denied that Woodward was telling Jones to shut up but lip readers say otherwise. But what is the next step for Manchester United. If they sack Ole then what happens. They still have the same talent. They will go for Pochettino of course and he may be still reeling over not being considered last Christmas. And why leave Spurs with a new stadium and the promise of money to spend. He may think twice. Sky Sports have appointed Keane and Mourinho to cover their Manchester United matches. If Arsenal get a result then it will makes Ole Gunnars position at Manchester untenable. He may now regret getting the call from United last year. First Cardiff and maybe Manchester United. I hope so am wrong. I am a Spurs supporter and want Pochettino to stay put. But I have very big doubts.
