Popular American fighter Nate Diaz will return to the octagon after a three-year hiatus, and his rival will be former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
The fight between the former lightweights will be held in the welterweight category and will be the second most important event of the UFC 241 tournament, which will be held on August 17 in Anaheim.
The organization of the match was reported by informed sources close to the situation, while representatives of the UFC have not yet made official statements about this.
34-year-old Nate Diaz held his last fight in August 2016, losing the majority of the referee in a rematch with Conor McGregor. It was assumed that Diaz would return to business last November at the UFC 230 in New York by a fight against Dustin Porrier, however, the fight was canceled after the Diamond was injured and dropped out of the event.
Anthony Pettis, 32, made his debut in the welterweight division in the previous bout, knocking out Stephen Thompson, former UFC challenger for 170 pounds in the second round, and finishing in eighth place in the division ranking.
Recall that the main event of the UFC 241 tournament will be the title heavyweight fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.
