It attracted attention when Arsenal on January 27 presented Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard on a lease for the rest of last season. It turned into 14 Premier League matches, with one goal and two assists. The Norwegian is now back in Madrid, but Arsenal should be very keen on buying Odegaard free.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the London club are still keeping an eye on the Norwegian midfielder. However, the road back to Arsenal is not straightforward, as Real Madrid have reportedly not decided whether they are ready to let go of Ødegaard completely.
There were otherwise high expectations when Real Madrid in January 2015 presented the then 16-year-old Ødegaard as a new player. However, it has never been the breakthrough in the Spanish capital club. Since then, it has been a loan to Heerenveen, Vitesse, Real Sociedad and most recently Arsenal. In the white Madrid jersey, he has so far featured in just 11 matches.
