The first match in the history of T20I was played in 2003 between two English county cricket teams between Hampshire and Sussex. The highlight of the match was that former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram joined Hampshire and former league spinner Mushtaq. Ahmed represented Sussex. In a new style cricket match, Sussex won the toss and invited Hampshire to bat. Openers Hamblin and Kenway gave their team a fantastic start and a 66-run partnership between the two players. Hampshire scored 153 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, Davis by Sussex, Leary with two and Mushtaq. Ahmed dismissed a player.
