Oliver Rowland will be getting behind the wheels of a Formula 1 car to drive for Williams in the Hungary Test when the F1 in-season testing begins in July at Hungary.
Last year’s F2 championship saw he come off in third position, before joining Williams in 2018 as their young driver for the year.
This saw him spend some time behind the wheel of the current F1 machinery plus some work in the simulator.
His first run which was in the post-Spanish Grand Prix test saw him climb up to an impressive 121 laps.
This achievement saw him receive a commendation from Dave Robson, Williams Performance Projects Principal Engineer who noted that the Briton did an absolutely superb job.
With that, he has now been called up to the July’s Hungarian Grand Prix where he is expected to fulfill another day of testing duties at the Hungaroring.
Speaking to Formula1.com, Rowland noted that this news was another step in the right direction for him and his goal of being in F1.
He also stated that it was nice that they trust him and have given him another chance.
