The 2019 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Egypt. It was announced by the governing body of African Football known as CAF.

In the competition to host, Egypt defeated South Africa. Egypt will be hosting the Africa Cup for the fifth time. They last hosted the competition in 2006. Egypt recently is back in the football arena after the rise of Salah. With Salah upfront and strong attack, Egypt successfully won the last edition of the Africa Cup. Now, Egypt will have an extra boost to defend the title. Egypt also participated in the world cup in Russia but failed to progress ahead from the group stage.
Cameroon was the original host but they were stripped after their slow preparation. Africa Cup will take place in June of this year which means Egypt only has 6 months to prepare.
