Serena Williams will no longer participate in the 2018 French Open.
This new development is as a result of her recent withdrawal from the competition after her fourth-round match where she faced Maria Sharapova.
The reason for her withdrawal from the match is not far-fetched. Serena has an arm injury which makes it hard for her to play.
Thus she opted for withdrawal from the competition, thereby forfeiting her place at the Roland Garros in Paris.
Serena who spoke in a press conference noted that for a while, she has been having some issues with her pec muscles which has made it impossible for her to physically serve.
The five time champ also noted that there is no improvement in the issue as it is only worsening which thus informed her decision to withdraw from the competition.
With this, whoever comes off victorious in the match between Garbine Muguruza & Lesia Tsurenko will be facing Sharapova in the quarters.
