Splinterlands Journal: I'll Stay On Steem Because of Splinterlands
Not that it was ever in doubt, but I plan on staying here in STEEM through any future crypto bear market to come... in part because of Steem Monsters, aka Splinterlands.
No matter how you look at it, whether you believe STEEM is doomed to fail or bound to succeed, at the end of the day Splinterlands showcases what is possible. Even if STEEM went to near zilch, at least Splinterlands will continue to operate as a game as the cards have proven to trade mostly detached from the value of the underlying STEEM price.
I used to play Hearthstone alot. Realistically, it just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I want to feel like I'm apart of something, that I'm creating value when I play. Regardless of how much value that will actually come about, that doesn't matter. But it justifies my use of time knowing that I am "making" something out of my time use.
Splinterlands offers a chance to own something - even if it becomes worthless. At the end of the day, even if STEEM itself collapses and everyone is just here to take take take, at least I got a game out of all this. And even if STEEM itself is a game, Splinterlands makes that reality all the more so. And for that, I don't mind having paid the price to play.
