I was on the discord a couple weeks ago and one of the founders was chatting people up (mad respect for that BTW).
He said he takes regular profits but has also regretted every card he's ever sold.
I think that is a great way to approach it.
With that said, you will almost never see my name next to a card for sale.
And this is often something people ask questions about. Why would I not sell here? Prices have gone up by so much, doesn't it make sense to cash out?
To me, the answer is a resounding no. Barring some kind of scandal with the founders, to me it is just not time and here's why.
This is a chart from peakmonsters of daily active accounts. I've posted it many times and if you would like to go look at it and the many other charts listed there you can find it here.
And while I post it and I talk about it a lot, today I decided to pull the data and put it in a spreadsheet to really bring it home.
This is the daily numbers for Splinterlands active accounts. I want you to take a look at the DAILY percentage gains over the last 30 days and remember that these are compounding daily. DAILY!
The total percentage gain of active accounts once all compounded together over just the last 30 days is 430.78% !!!!!!
Now imagine you owned a stock and that company came out and said over the last year our active user growth has been 430%. You'd never sell it. Splinterlands did just that but in only 30 days.
And if you look, it's not slowing down. Just 3 days ago we broke 100k active accounts and today it's breathing on 125k.
Maybe you saw my post a few days ago about how in the past month (now about 35 days) we'd gone from 5 Furious Chickens for every one active account to having what is not 1 Furious Chicken for every 5 active accounts. At the time I was talking about how I couldn't believe Chickens were still $34. Well its been about 3 days since I wrote that and some of you took it to heart because today Chickens are $50.
With these stats and knowing that most active accounts take a little while before they start buying cards, do you believe it makes any sense to be a net seller at these prices?
Let me know. I really want to understand the other side of this argument.
