Hello Splinterfans! Pogier here taking on the Weekly Challenge for the first time. This week's showcase is the Crystal Jaguar!
As luck would have it, my Daily Quest involved using the Life Splinters, so it was time to bring out the power of the crystal jaguar! Watch here
This match was in Silver 3, with Weak Magic and Little League as the game modes, and a total max Mana of 36.
Strategy Thought Process
Under the Weak Magic game mode, I brought in the Crystal Werewolf, just as a precaution for a possible magic deck, and to act as a secondary tank.
With the Little League mode, all monsters are limited to 4 mana or less. Among all the available cards I had, the Crystal Jaguar had the best HP, along with the summoner that gives shield, the overall tankiness was raised, making him the ideal frontliner.
As support, I brought in the Armorsmith and Venari Crystalsmith to take care of both armor and heals, respectively. And to ensure damage, I brought in a solid 2 range damage unit in the form of Peacebringer. Lastly, I placed the Tower Griffin at the backline because of it's high speed and flying ability, which will protect me from the possible sneaks.
The Fight
Round 1 Aftermath
My Crystal Jaguar was able to take the hits and defend itself for one round in time for my secondary tank to take the front lines. Sneak was rendered helpless in the face of flying!
Round 2 Aftermath
My damage dealers were able to go through the enemy's main tank. With Cerberus out of the picture, the enemy's damage dealers were easy pickings. With their overall lower HP, the match at this point is tilting heavily in my favor.
Round 3 Aftermath
The causalties on both sides kept increasing, but because of my summoner's armor buff, we manage to mitigate some of the damage. The Venari Crystalsmith then becomes the new tank, healing herself for 2 hp each turn.
Round 4 Game set and Match
It is painfully clear here that I have defeated my opponent here. It was a good fight, and my calculations were correct!
Verdict on Crystal Jaguar
My crystal jaguar is not levelled up, but he is perfect for little league matches. partnered with good damage dealers and support units, he makes a good tank in order to provide enough room for my damage dealers to decimate my enemies. In other modes, there are better tanks, but that's why each card is special. They have specific modes that let them truly shine, and that's the little league mode. It's definitely a no-brainer decision to first pick the Crystal Jaguar in that mode.
