On the 18th of December 2011 the eighth edition of Serious Request was organized. This time the glass house was built in Leiden, where the city square is called the "Beestenmarkt", the "Animal Market".
Again, 3 radio DJ's from radio station 3FM in The Netherlands, would be locked up for seven days, without eating and just playing requested songs that were submitted via a donation to the Red Cross for a particular theme. This year the charity cause was to help mothers that have been victimized by wars and conflicts. This is a disaster that's rarely in the news, but it touches over 10 million women worldwide, and so the theme became:
"This one's for mama".

The theme song in 2011 was DoLuv2LuvU, by Ilse de Lange, but the song that was most requested and as such contributed most to the cause was Ode to the Bouncer, by the Studio Killers, oh how I still love that tune!!
