Badulla Night Mail Train
The night mail train to Badulla usually consists of 12 or 13 compartments manufactured in Romania. Climbing the gorge is not an easy task with 13 compartments, including first-, second- and third-class dormitories, general compartments, a restaurant, and two postal compartments.
It is powered by a M6 class diesel electric engine, one of the most successful and efficient locomotives in Sri Lanka, imported from West Germany in 1979.
