Hi Gardeners
Today on a very hot day we had our usual saturday sale of veggies on the estate/garden where I volunteer in the middel of the Netherlands.
From our not yet certified new greenhouse we brought celtuce or Wosun (the Chinese name) on the market. But I noticed not many customers bought i and we were left with almost all of it.
This is what it looks like and the stam can be eaten too. We call it palmsla (palmlettuce).
Luckily the clients bought a massive amount of strawberries which this year gave a unprecedented harvest. The plants were bought end of 2020 but did not produce in 2021 but thsi year they do and how. Those plants were kept in a freezehouse and that is good for the plants growth but in our case a year later.
Also popular is the first fennel (venkel).
Left is how we harvest and right how we present it on the market stable.
I finish this post with a look in the 1880 greenhouse (cast iron) with fresh cucumbers! The greenhouse was restored a few years ago with financial help of several (government) foundations.
Enjoy the weekend
