Hello guys, it has been a while i dropped by here. I know going for too long could actually mar your spirit of ever wanting to be perfect in what you do and your high spirited zeal could die down as well. But am happy to have been able to pull back up and drop some words here.
Two factors contributed solely to my absence here.
(1)The hacking of my account, this threw me off balance and got me scared in the process, thoughts came into my head and i had to think, “what is the whole point of working tirelessly and another human stays somewhere to sabotage your efforts and all of the hard work”. Taking along with him/her your hard earn reward, money you’ve struggled to gather over a long while. This alone almost made me give up and face my normal offline work. But the set back was not enough, next time, they should try harder, i guess i'm stiffer than what i look like.
(2)A Lot to be done but there was little time to accomplish them. I had to figure out how to manage my time, being in places that am really needed and my presence will be valued, and not wasting them on some random places. I was not able to set my priorities straight, yes, i can say i was confused, i wanted being everywhere, either in one group or the other, attending one function or the other, participating in one humanitarian service or the other, but one needs to realise that no matter how much you try to satisfy these feelings of presence, you might never be able to get it all done. Choose to be in the most valuable places and were your presence will be appreciated, give it you worth and your time ,and the world will definitely hear you.
I have been able to highlight briefly what led to my absence from this platform but i want to address the issue of my hacked account. Although i might have been able to come out still strong and hearty and ready to bounce back into action, a fellow minnow steemian might not be able to rise again, except a whale with a heavenly heart does the needful.
All happened like a mirage, 29 days ago while going through my daily activities of commenting on steemians post and replying to comments on my post, i came across a particular comment that directed me to to claim a particular token, of course, i was happy and the adrenaline rush at that moment to claim a token was hyper, i clicked the link..yess...i did, i did not know it was a scam,a phising link precisely, thought it was genuine, meanwhile as at then, i had never had issues or heard complaints of being scam through links on your comment sections, i was that naive and innocent.
Below is the comment
Clicking on the link to go claim my supposed token, my password was required to be filled in again, but i was sensible enough to use my posting key instead of my original password. I guess all hell would have let loose for my sake if i had inserted in my original password. The site actually did open but it was another steemians blog, with much curiosity i had to join the steemtrail discord group to report the bizarre experience,in there i was made to realise that there was no such comment made in my comment section and had stopped giving out tokens about a month ago. That’s when i realized that i had been scammed, but still with little or no knowledge of how to reverse the whole procedure.
I went to bed with the thoughts that i will speak to someone more experienced than me in the morning, but to my greatest surprise, i woke up to meet a whole lot of spammy comments being made on peoples post.
Comments such as this
I received threats from angry steemians for spamming their comment section and i guess if i had not changed my password within the next 1 hour my account would have been flagged to oblivion.
PRECAUTIONS
Within the next 1 hour i quickly contacted some steemians like ,
on what to do, they advised me to change my password, and that alone will stop the scammers from making more comments using my account.
For the benefit of new steemians who are not aware of how to change their password if they want to, am going to make a quick tutorial on how to do that and to avoid these simple mistakes.
(1)Click on the three parallel lines on the top right corner of your blog. This will be displayed.
Click on change password and this page will appear.
Insert your username and your old original password and then click generate. Make sure to click on the two little boxes below before clicking on update password. With that your password and all other keys will be automatically changed.
This post was made in other to warn steemians, especially minnows to abstain from clicking excessive links, yes, we all need this good fortune but one needs to be careful lest he falls, avoid links such as Steemwit.com, its a pure phishing link and will scam you of all your hard earn rewards. Steemit is here to make life easier and worth more living, and as long as we avoid these things and other complications that might seem to make it look hard and boring, we will definitely get the best out of it.
Please resteem this post to create more awareness and also, you never can tell who you might just save from getting scam.
MUCH LOVE FROM ME TO ALL STEEMIANS.
