In 2018 when I started my journey on a very strange blockchain, I came across a group of the most kind-hearted people who made me feel at home. Over there I made acquaintance with . Today, several years later, she is once again making me feel a little more comfortable, now at her home country. I think I speak for many on the blockchain when I say that she has been a direct or indirect motivation for many of us to try out different things on the chain.
Today, I got to live the dream of many people. I met her in person. I do wish it was under better circumstances, but we make do with what we have. She still plays her part at , and one of my favorite projects on the chain that has been running for years -
, a mom to 4, a volunteer first responder, and so much more. Even after being so busy, she made time to drive an hour and a half, and give
and I so many hours in our time of need.
She was always a person I looked up to on the blockchain. After meeting her today I can confidently say she is so much more incredible in person. Evreything that is to like about her is so much more amplified. I feel like the blogs and discord chats do no justice, because you still miss out on a huge part of how superb she really is. It felt like I knew her for ages. So compassionate and friendly. My respect for her has grown tenfolds.
It was a nice day, today. Bright and clear day. The three of us went out for lunch not too far away from the place I stay in. But it was clear there was no time for games as soon as Britt pulled out her notebook. She was very serious about helping us out and that would start with first listing the things we need to work on.
It was really nice catching up with things over lunch. Talking about our blockchain journeys, the amazing people we know and also the people we miss that aren't here anymore. The lunch was very productive. Britt knows a lot. A lot. She knows how the Dutch system works and was very quick to point out what could work for Pri and I, and what probably woud not. But within the short span of lunch we did simmer down to key moments that we could focus on currently, and other things that could use some more research.
For lunch I grabbed a cup of coffee with a very delicious Dutch treat. Later I did steal Britt's idea and got a cup of tea with ginger and mint. What did the ladies have? I believe you could read about that in their posts. The only thing I did not like about the lunch is that she didn't let me pick up the tab. At some point Britt mentioned that she had only come to see if she could help and she couldn't make any miracles happen. But she did make some miracles happen. I feel like we made some good progress today.
Right at lunch we made a huge leap towards solving my unquenching thirst for getting back on my feet. It will still take some more asking around to see if the opportunity fits me perfectly, but it is a very good news. After that we headed to the bank to see if there was any progress regarding my bank account, which also lead to some promising words. Right after that she guided us to a shop where we could buy cheap stuff. And we did.
Even while we were at lunch Britt made sure to pass as much information as possible to us. From the best approach for me to learning Dutch to how Pri could make Gigi's life a little better. And even in the shop she recommended things we could make use of for the most reasonable prices. Everyone needs a guiding hand here and there, and she was ours today. We later got out free train passes and also learned why we were being denied it for so long, all thanks to Britt. Right to the very end, she also tagged along to speak to the RedCross volunteer.
I am not sure how to thank you properly, . But I hope you enjoyed the company as much as I did yours. I know how much you already have on your plate and that is why I did not want to bother you, and so, I really appreciate you doing so much for us.
