Welcome to my second issue in my factions compared series! This will be my 2nd to last intro before my first SWFC roundup which will come out in a few days. Today we will be looking at five different blasters, which are the DH-17, SE-14C, SE-44C, DL-18 and Glie-44.
To start out with we will talk about the DH-17. The DH-17 was a large medium range blaster pistol commonly used by Rebels. Sometimes it was also used in starship combat as seen in The New Hope.
It was a dependable blaster, especially when on semi-auto mode. It featured a fully automatic setting too but usually it was not used because the pistols power only allowed it to shoot for 20 seconds on that setting. Another setting it had was a stun setting which could knock someone out for 10 whole minutes. It's shot capacity was 100, however a soldier could change the energy pack in around 5 seconds. It could shoot 5 power packs worth of shots before needing to be recharged.
The blaster is ideal for medium range encounters, which is odd considering it is a pistol. It is alright for short range, but really isn't good for long range. Its ideal range was 30 meters but it could work up to 200 meters away.
The SE-14C was a light repeating blaster often used by the Galactic Empire. It was most commonly seen being used by stormtroopers and Imperial officers.
It featured a scope making it more accurate then some blasters. It was a five-round burst weapon meaning it had a really good rate of fire. However, the amazing rate of fire also meant that the gun had some pretty bad recoil, so even it had a scope it wasn't a lot more accurate then other guns.
The SE-14C also featured another scope which was infrared. Like the DH-17 it featured a fully automatic mode and a fast fire trigger, however usually it was just used as a 5-round burst weapon since that is what it was the best for.
The Glie-44 was the resistance's most commonly used pistols. It was made on Ryloth and was often used outside of the resistance against the empire.
It was named after a Twi'lek freedom fighter by by the name Gobi Glie. It was used most often by the fighter pilots in the Resistance, notably Ello Asty and of course Poe Dameron. Even Leia and Finn were seen using at times during fights.
One of its advantages is its really small size allowing for easy concealment and one handed wielding. Its rate of fire (or ROF) wasn't the very best but that was mainly because of its powerful shots needing time in between shots.
The SE-44C, also known as the First Order's officer pistol, was manufactured by the Sonn-Blas corporation. General Armitage Hux uses one of these, as well as Captain Phasma. We see Captain Phasma shoot it at Rose Tico and it looks like a solid blaster.
It has one of the best ROFs of any balsters I have ever seen, having even faster ROF than the SE-14C. It has some really useful features, such as a good sight, and a handle that vibrates slightly when you get low on battery power, which lets you know when to change the battery pack, or recharge the gas chamber.
Another good feature is its size. Like some of the other pistols on the list is is a really compact pistol for its size. In my opinion its very best feature is how customizable it is. It can be modified heavily making it ideal for officers.
