Did you know that originally stormtroopers were supposed to have lightsabers? Before George Lucas decided otherwise, lightsabers were supposed to be an extremely common thing in the Star Wars universe. Maybe this would help them kill a protagonist for once...
(concept by legendary Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie )
What would have this meant? Would we have seen Boba Fett with a lightsaber too? Tell me what you think in the comments. And what about the prequels? Could that mean lightsaber-wielding Clones fighting against the lightsaber wielding droids? Personally I think that would be amazing!
Would blasters still exist or would the single weapon be a lightsaber? I kind of like having everyone except force users use blasters because it make them more special. Having a different weapon from the rest really makes the Jedi and Sith stand out.
I wonder how all the events in Star Wars would change had they kept stormtroopers with lightsabers. One example would be when Luke is awed by the lightsaber. If the only weapon in Star Wars were Lightsabers then Luke would have known exactly what they were and probably how to use them.
Another question is, if the only weapon in Star Wars was lightsabers, would they be even more advanced than they already are? Also, was everybody planned to be force sensitive? I want to know your guy's thoughts on this question so please let me know what you think the Star Wars universe would be like.
I would only be okay with it if there was blasters too and the stormtroopers used lightsabers. Stormtroopers that had lightsabers would be awesome, but then we wouldn't ever be able to make jokes about their horrible aim!
