I told myself earlier last week I was going to finally start the Yangchen ones, after owning the first Yangchen book for like 3+ years now. But I was browsing AO3 when I was bored and stumbled across this amazing Star Wars fanfic that's become my new obsession.
I honestly have a problem with it lol.
I tell myself so often that I'm gonna start a real, original fiction—official story—but then fanfic just pulls me back in.
But hey, it's not like the fanfic I read is actually, like... bad or anything.
Even though there's the fanfic stigma, of course, I tend to read stuff—try to read stuff—that's actually decent at worst.

AU where Qui-Gon survives, but Obi-Wan still trains Anakin.
It honestly surprised me how interesting it was. I've had this one bookmarked too for a while.
The concept is one I've always been interested in, but the execution of it from the initial point—as well as the unique characterization of Obi-Wan in particular, focusing more on his... humanity, dare I say, his imperfections and whatnot—
Him and Satine's relationship, or lack thereof for at least the beginning (they're tagged as a couple in the fic description itself, so I assume something changes later on—I don't know because I'm not even halfway through yet).
The author has a unique take on the life within the Jedi Temple too. Though I'll say more as an observation, less as a critique, that it feels at times less science-fictiony and more our-real-worldsy, which might be a turn-off for some, I'd imagine.
The story's not only just very interesting but also very well-written in my opinion.
Obi-Wan, as I said, we dive deeper and get a lot more intimate with his vulnerable side than we normally do, and the way they write for each of the characters (there's multiple POV characters), I can tell there's a distinguished feel there.
One more thing to add to my rambling:
Their inclusion of outside content—Legends/Canon stories concerning these characters—shocked me in the best way.
Some stuff I'd heard vague things about, but there's callbacks to this character named Tahl (who Qui-Gon apparently had a thing with) and Xanatos (who was Qui-Gon's old apprentice apparently—I don’t know if you've even heard of 'em).
Quinlan Vos is hilarious in it too.
He has crazy Jedi fratboy energy in the most fun of ways lmao.
I'm tellin' ya, I do understand the stigma about fanfiction...
But when you find a gem, it hits so damn good.
