Berkley was a bunker, the Pentagon above ground.
There were wings. Wings for administration, upper school and lower school. Winding staircases from classrooms, to auditorium, to libraries, to the lower school gym and cafetarias.
As more money came in, everything got sealed.
There used to be a blacktop and separate monkeybars; the horizontal bars on the blacktop were a dunking standard for basketball. Dunk by age thirteen, and you would dunk on a real goal by highschool. Miss the thirteen year goal, and there would be no dunking in life.
Big Darryl could dunk. There was no discrimination to this rule. He played on the basketball team.
