Content discovery on steemit is pretty poor in my opinion. Simply showing you posts that were written/resteemed by people you follow can get very cluttered. I want something that will show me posts that I am likely to be interested in. I have explained my initial plan:
A New Feed Using Upvotes From The People You Follow. Improving Content Discovery!
as well as updates:
A Feed Layout That Focuses on Content Discovery
What if Your Post Spread Like a Virus!? Looking for a SteemDev.
If you don't want to read my previous posts, here is a quick summary of how it works:
The program looks at every vote you have made and finds the top 100 people that have voted most similarly to you in the past.
Those 100 people become your personal curators of content. Whenever one of them votes on a post, it will show up in your feed.
As you vote/skip over posts in your feed your curators will receive scores based on whether you vote on the things they have or whether you skip past them.
The curators with the best scores will have a greater influence on the order of your feed.
Every day your worst curator is replaced with a new one.
Now I am not much of a developer, but I am pretty good with spreadsheet formulas so that is mostly how I have built my proof of concept. I would like to let people test it to help me improve my algorithm. I have been testing it for the last several months and my experience on steem has been greatly improved! I have found many interesting people and posts that I normally would never have come across.
I want to start with just one person probably and then start extending it as I get the process down smoother.
If you are interested please comment below. I will pick my testers in order based on the value of their upvote on my post (to see who is most interested/the most invested in the platform)
Using it is as simple as scrolling down a page and clicking on anything that sounds interesting to you. Over time your feed should become more and more personalized to the things that you are interested in.
