Humility is and remain the highway to personal growth, but too many counterfeits are now in play. To be honest, many of us do not know there is a false humility on the loose, that is giving people the wrong impression of what True humility truly represents.
Many has achieved great positions in life employing false humility in disguise. They got rewarded with an award, meant for True humility while in fact they truly do not deserve it. However, True humility has it's signs and characteristics and only when you know them, can you be able to differentiate it from false one.
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man, True humility is being superior to your former self, focusing on your mistakes and errors more, than pointing out another's~looking in the mirror not looking out the window.
Keep in mind, True humility has nothing in common with Low self-esteem, in fact both cannot cohabit under same roof.
True humility has enough confidence to hold his head high, though never to the level of self aggrandizement and also enough humility never to look down on himself nor others.
Unfortunately, Humility is often erroneously viewed as poor self-esteem, but that is not so. It is however, the arrogant with a distorted sense of Self that can view Humility as so. When True humility is accorded with congratulatory notes over an achievement, He embraces it. He does not deflect it back,, in an attempt to be seen as humble. But false humility does that.
Finally, if anyone tells True humility that a certain person speaks ill of him, True humility will not make excuses about what is said of him but will answer, "He was ignorant to my other faults else, he would not have mentioned these alone." That is who True humility is and who false humility, is not.
