Introduction
It was about a week ago when I was having a discussion with ,
,
and
if we need to identify our community with a recognisable iconic image. That image will be a representation and manifestation of our community. There must be some affiliation to us as creative content providers.
We came up with a few ideas toying with the logo of steem and steemit. We are also aware that the Intellectual Property to the Steemit logo has limited usage since it is a protected mark. So we explored whether we fall within commercial use, a reproduction or derivative works. Through our very limited understanding and of course guided by who is also our Intellectual Property legal advisor, we thought that although it is not meant for commercial purpose but its use is limited to propagating the use this logo within our #steem-cartoon community it would amount to fair use.
But in the exercise of extra caution and
if you are reading this, our use of this logo was sparked by the initial steemit logo but although we do not consider it a derivative work we would like to seek permission (we maintain that there is no infringement of copyright) for the use of this mark. We also hope that serious consideration to be given that the entire initiative was not spurred by any commercial benefit except for communal growth.
The Idea
Creative people have this habit of staying up late. Most of the work are usually done when everyone is asleep. That is why it is not surprising that we affiliate ourselves with the owl. Which is nocturnal in nature. The logo came from the the following flow idea of idea...
Introducing SteemCartoon
I toyed with the idea of incorporating the eyes and incorporating steem logo into the words.
If there is a picture that best describe us would be this very owl.
Life as a Steemit Owl
You know that we work hard during the daytime as animators, cartoonists, artists, executive, clerks and etc. But once we punched our card and call it a day in the office, we put on our steemit cap and during the night when everyone is sleeping, our light bulb is brighter than daylight. Hence the owl manifestation.
It has been a wonderful trip with this group of artists and creative content producers. I am proud to be part of #steem-cartoon and I wish them all the best. Hopefully I manage to deliver my part by producing this piece.
They say the early bird catches the worm. But they forgot, the owl that roams the night catches the dawn and ate the worm and down it with a cup of coffee before the very first bird leaves the nest.
