Hello! My name is Adila~ I’m also known as Ivoryss or Ryss.
I’m an alumni from MMU (aka Multimedia University) Cyberjaya, graduated back in 2015 and now working as a graphic designer. But I also dabble in creating webcomics.
First and foremost, I would like to thank my lecturer Mr. Anuar (@sireh) for inviting me to join Comination Club and also introducing me to Steemit!
I've never tried blogging for personal reasons before (aside from doing assignments). I was hoping that my (train wreck) grammar and writing skills will do me justice for my very first blog.
OK! Let’s talk about art!
(This skeleton is a part of my webcomic drawing)
My art style is highly influenced by Japanese Anime style as you can tell. I prefer to do my art traditionally compared to digital art. I mix both media depending on what type of outcome I want to achieve. For webcomic, I prefer to draw in digital to save my time. If I wanted to do an illustration, I will draw them on paper first before transferring them digitally to colour.
I started drawing since I was little and at that time, I look up to my older sister as she is the one who inspired the creative soul in me.
As I grew up, I realized that not everyone will be able to accept the fact that I wanted to pursue art as my first career choice.
Though I do find a little comfort from my grandmother who loves and appreciate my artworks.
In my university years, I started to question my art worth as I tend to feel discouraged by my peers and other people.
I was stuck in slums for many years until a friend and former roommate of mine, Reverie suggested that we both team up and do a webcomic collaboration (she will do the story, while I focus on drawing). I do like that idea but it takes a while for me to actually motivate myself and execute our little project.
During that time too, Reverie kept on consoling and helping me with emotional therapy to start appreciating my art style. She keep doing this for years until I feel confident enough to bring out my graphic tablet back from the dead.
It was a wild ride from there, I tell you.
And thus, on 1st March 2017 we launched the first chapter of our comic “Seasons: Winter” on Webtoon U.S!
-“A story that ties the fate of four individuals after a series of events that transpire within the span of four seasons (Winter – Autumn). A photographer who sees ghosts, a conglomerate emperor, a ghost heiress and a man with a personal vendetta. What will become of them when the season ends?”-
We received mostly good feedback from our readers and both of us hope that we'll be able to brave through until the very end. (Which is gonna take a while to get there based on our current pace)
I'm still experimenting and learning techniques that are suitable to my current level to avoid being too overwhelmed.
Here's my progress from December 2016 until August 2017.
Lastly, I just want to share the latest illustration I did. Though I do apologize that I'm unable to show you the final product in high-res because it was meant as a reward to my Patreon's supporters. So I turn it into GIFs and I apologize again if my watermarks is too distracting.
Both characters below are taken from our webcomic Seasons wearing a Halloween’s costume (I know Halloween already passed but this is part of Patreon’s reward).
Peace out!
Ryss
