SON OF ARENT SON OF HALAN
FROM THE WHEEL OF TIME SERIES
OGIER
Ogier (pronounced: OH-gehr) are a race of non-human creatures who have an intense love of knowledge and peace.
Ogier men stand about ten feet tall ("half again as tall as a man"). The women are only slightly shorter, and softer in feature. They have broad noses, wide mouths, long tufted ears, and eyes the size of teacups.

LOIAL
He stands tall, almost ten feet, and like all Ogier his face has a broad, almost snout-like nose, and eyebrows that hang down like tails framing pale eyes as big as teacups. His ears poke up to tufted points through shaggy black hair, and twitch when his emotions are running high. His voice is as deep as a drum. His smile splits his face in two, and shows teeth as broad as chisels. His fingers are broad enough for three, on hands big enough for hams. He is considered young amongst Ogier, at about ninety years old.

THE PROCESS:
The first few steps are always about finding the right body type for the character.
He's standing too still so I've made him bent down a bit in a manner of talking to someone politely.
This tells a lot more about what this character is really like.
A lot better than just drawing him standing still doing nothing.
Loial is a close friend to the three main characters of this series that include Mat (from my previous post), Rand al'Thor and Perrin Aybara.
Loial is such a bookworm he always carries books in his coat pockets.
The huge wooden quarterstaff that he carries with him is a 'Sung Wood'. It was wrought from a tree using a rare talent among the Ogiers called 'Treesinging'.
He follows the three boys after he found out about them heading off out into the world of adventures. He loves to read stories about adventures and always imagines himself to be in one.
He is also an aspiring writer. He has joined the journey with these three interesting characters that he believes one day will be remembered as great legends. He intends to write their story.
Of course, writing about adventures is not the same as to really be in one. "I want to write of adventures, not have them." — Loial.
Getting himself caught in scenes of life-threatening situations and even battles while trying to write stories about them reveals a side of him that he never knew he is capable of doing. Given his size and strength, he is actually quite a formidable force to be reckoned with.
Well, there you have it. Done.
