And when I say foundation, I mean the homonymous organization type, not the blockchain or the ecosystem, in general.
If you haven't followed, there have been talks to create such a foundation for Steem, and now I think it's stage 3 of taking proposals of how this Foundation should operate, what will be its responsibilities, the roles of various actors and how will the funds be used. Also, the legal form this Foundation will take is being discussed.
I must admit I haven't followed these discussions, but I did hear a presentation of some of proposals at the State of the Steem Forum. I've read one or two such proposals in their initial version too.
It's an interesting mix of proposals. Some of them are too simple, others are too complex, to the point the Foundation will become same or worse manager than a government.
Some proposals are or can be complementary, or parts of them can.
The proposals vary a lot when it comes to the role of the Foundation. Some have found specific niche areas where the Foundation can work, others see it as an organization which picks up whatever area is not covered by other entities on Steem, others consider the Foundation should have a prominent role in the ecosystem.
We'll be asked to vote for one proposal or another (as well as for the proposer). But I heard on the same forum we need to be registered voters or something like that to do it. Hopefully there will be more information on that.
That's a lot of information to process, not to mention to keep track of, for anyone being on Steem for the social media aspect, or the gaming or the gambling or to share photos.
I wonder how many steemians will vote, and from those who will, how many will actually know what they vote for?
