It’s been almost a week since I introduced a new tag called #steem-music and the response has been really positive and encouraging. I’ve had support from my ‘home ground’, Malaysia, with many Malaysian Steemians wanting to be a part of this and also from around the world. It has indeed been very exciting as I’ve also been to catching up with almost similar initiatives that have been happening around Steemit.
Our Mount Mordor
The journey is a challenging one, but one that is well worth it. I would like to take this opportunity to announce 2 upcoming projects that we will be implementing. First, we will take #steem-music to you. Our first stop will be University Sultan Idris, Sabah and subsequently Penang. Our goal is to promote the use of Steemit as their platform to showcase musical talent amongst aspiring musicians, instrumentalists and composers. We want you!
Personally, the notion of being able to share Steemit with others gets me really excited. I am a musician and I know how important it is for me to find a ‘stage’. When I was a student, I had plenty of time, but very little money. So, presto, there is an express meal here that gives you both the ingredients. We feel that the first foray into University and in particular the Music Faculty was a good move to introduce a critical platform that will base itself on the concept of public appraisal. If the content is not up to par, the judge will be the audiences in Steemit. There is no buffer…and this is where we say, ‘Welcome to the real world’.
No Preaching Through Posts
I do not believe in preaching through posts. I believe that if building a music community is what we want, we got to make sure the message gets sent across and we are prepared to go to the ground. Our first presentation will be covered in my subsequent posting and I do look forward to it.
Weekly Gig
The second project that we have in mind is bringing music to you live. We believe that this platform is able to connect people and we also believe that there are many that could be confused about how to get started. We will be having our weekly gig that will take place after Chinese New Year at a venue that is yet to be announced. Here, aspiring artists can perform and it will be an openmic event. If the performing artists has a steemit account, he/she can do an immediate posting on the spot. If he/she does not have one, looks like they will be signing up for one merely to test what we preach.
In the end of the day, we want to live up to our tag,
We Leave No Note Behind
I am pretty sure the weekly gig will be a musically fun filled night.
Our Humble Beginning
This is just the beginning for #steem-music as we also have other plans that’s currently in the works. I can’t wait to share them with you once we have something more concrete. In the meantime, keep on making music, keep on posting and keep on engaging. Let’s do this together!
Alone, we are just a note, together we form a song. Cheesy ya…but it sticks in your head. That is what matters.
