After a full day of Steemit Bootcamp and amazing dinner with fellow TeamMalaysia buddies, I arrived at Liberal Latte at 8pm sharp. Event was scheduled to start at 8pm sharp so I was shock as I was first at the venue. Thankfully, arrived around 10 minutes later and I managed to enjoy long chats with her. Over the next 30 minutes, familiar faces started to showed up and we all greeted each other. For every event, there are always new faces and first thing I always try to find out is if they are Steemians. If so, it is natural for us to ask for each other's Steem ID. Saw plenty of posts from people whom I've never met and always a great feeling to connect Steem ID to someone you just met.
Event started with giving his talk about legal topics. 2 weeks ago, he did the same and the topics covered was on women's right (in particular to do with child custody and spousal abuse). This event's talk was an extension to that.
Few things to take away from the talk:
Child Custody - In most cases, mothers usually have a better chance to win the child custody battle. It is always a challenge for the father to prove that that the child/children have a better quality of life with him. Shared custody is possible but in most cases, child/children stays with the mother. The legal system always give precedence to the best interest of the child/children.
Rape - Men always have the disadvantages when it comes to accusations of sexual misconduct/harassment. In the event where both parties are legal of age & in a rational state of mind and engage in a consensual relationship. Men are usually the ones to fall victim to claims of abuse and women are usually the victims. This is unfortunately the norm in our society and is a stigma that is hard change. Case and point, should a man walk into a ladies' washroom, the public would claim that he is there for malicious purpose and should a woman walk into a men's room, she can spend half of the day in there and she can walk out trouble free.
Anyway, I was busy taking photos as usual and you can read more about 's speech on his post.
I left at 10pm missed the second half of the event.
