#SteemMonsters, #Chibera, and now #Steempunk. It seems like I'm doing the rounds of all of the Steem-powered games at the moment! I'm learning about the whole Steem ecosystem as quickly as I can, and one part that particularly inspires me is the whole concept of being able to earn crypto by just playing games. That comes more naturally to me than even writing blog posts does. I was never really much of a blogger, as such. Sure, I've had my fair share of Wordpress sites in the past, on a variety of subjects, (mainly cyberpsychology, cybersecurity, and online-presence related blogs), and being able to earn crypto here from blogging is wonderful, don't get me wrong. But my mindset is such that ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ = ๐๐๐๐, whereas, ๐๐๐๐๐๐ = ๐๐๐. That is why I am so looking forward to seeing the gameplay elements of SteemMonsters and Chibera!
Yesterday introduced me to the wonders of the Steempunk.net website and their Discord server. This also looks like something that I could really get excited about on the Steem blockchain. I have installed their plugin for Firefox, but I haven't registered an account yet. I have been reading up on the game first, as I normally do, and asking questions on the Discord.
I have had a bit to do with the steampunk subgenre in the past. The small inset picture in my post thumbnail here is actually me, at the height of my steampunk days. There we go, so for all those who were curious; that is what I looked like a few years ago, albeit in steampunk costume. I think that photo is from around 2011 or so. I was at the inaugural steampunk meetup at M.O.T.A.T. in Western Springs, Auckland in 2011, and I attended several other steampunk events, such as the meetup at Pukemiro Junction, where the Auckland steampunks first met up with the Hamilton crowd. I own a few collectible items from Dr. Grordbort's collection of commercially-produced steampunk paraphenalia, and I have crafted/upcycled a few items myself over the years from scrap. I still have a rather large wooden tripod out in my back yard, now collecting vines, but which was once the base of a steampunk-inspired laser canon. ๐
I haven't delved too deeply yet into the world of Steempunk.net, but I see there are two character classes at present: the Adventurers and the Aristocrats. I would really like to try out a Technomage character, but that character class hasn't been released yet, and it still may not, as there is no official word on this yet. So for now I think I prefer the Adventurers.

That sounds like a bit of me! I haven't decided on a name for my character yet, nor a backstory. All I have so far is a bit of a sketch here. I generated this image using the DollDivine.com flash-based steampunk male character generator called "Lord Stevan Aristocrat". Note: that is the name of the character generator tool itself, and not the name of my new character, haha. My character here is wearing some fairly typical middle-class clothing, and the broach on his chest suggests that he aspires to better his current socio-economic status. But basically he's a guttersnipe, decorating his outfit with all manner of accoutrement and mismatched hand-me-downs.
My own former steampunk persona was a bit of a rarity. Rather than the common professions of mad scientist, pirate, airship captain, tinker, socialite, etc, my persona was an "๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐", that is, a minor government official who investigates temporal anomalies. At the time I was heavily influenced by the television series Primeval, haha. I don't know enough about the setting of Steempunk.net to get a handle on the types of professions that would be worthwhile pursuing in this game, but I'll continue reading voraciously, before I start creating my character in the game.
