The year is nearly over, so let's have a look at my predictions for 2017 I made a year ago.
![]()
1. Angela Merkel will resign as chancellor of Germany, after having lost the federal election in September. The only chance for her party CDU to stay in power (which is the only thing that keeps that party together) is to form a coalition with the right wing AfD. Their condition is: only without Mutti.
Angela Merkel has lost the election and for the last three months she has been desperately negotiating a new coalition to keep her in power, so far without success. Both the FDP and the AfD said they would only enter a coalition without the worst chancellor Germany had since Adolf Hitler. So my hope is we will get rid of this dangerous lady soon.
2. Italy will default and drop out of the Eurozone.
This did not happen yet. Probably in 2018.
3. The Bitcoin price will hit the 3000 US dollar mark by the end of the year.
I heavily underestimated this by a factor of more than four. This is the kind of mistake I am glad to make.
4. Steem will reach 5 US dollars by the end of the year.
Steem is at 2.80, but surpringisly the Steem dollar, which was supposed to be pegged to the US dollar, hit more than 15 US dollar at its peak and is now around 8 dollar. Even better for Steemians, as the revenues are paid out in Steem dollars.
5. Keith Richards will survive.
I was completely right about this one. He will probably survive a nuclear war.
