Now.. As the title says "quick thoughts", so this is only going to be a quick blog post. There's a LOT of reasons and I could go into detail for hours and make a really long detailed post, but that's not what this is.. This is just some quick thoughts I've been thinking recently, and for a long time really, but especially recently as I see more and more communities springing up on here.
And that's that.. Steem/steemit are in a great position as being the first major social media tied to a cryptocurrency.
The amount of people on here now and big names as well and we're still in beta I think says a lot.
The very nature of social media allows people on this platform to much more easily communicate than any other type of coin in my opinion.
One of the most major things are all the new sites/apps like Dtube and Dsound and Steepshot and on and on, it's not just steemit! And recently after starting a contest on here I was introduced to a guy who create the Crypto Empire which is a group of people networking on here, and they've sort of created their own virtual digital world sort of like the game we created as well..
And the guy who created the Crypto Empire recently wrote a blog post about how even if steemit somehow died that these groups will live on, the connections being made here are bigger than any social media platform. And that's one reason why I think that this platform has so much potential.. Because of it's social nature, whole communities are springing up here and they won't go away even if steemit does.
But in all reality, I don't think steemit is going anywhere for a while.. Some other new and better social media would have to come along and there are some other projects in the works or out there now, but I haven't got deep enough into all of them yet to say whether any of them have a chance of ever overtaking steemit. Plus I don't see why there's not room for multiple different social media even if other good platforms start springing up. There's room for numerous in my opinion!
Additionally as I said before, this is not just about steemit, there's numerous different groups and apps and sites springing up like Dtube which are bring over a lot of big names! Not to mention steem/steemit still appears to have the most transactions with the least power usage and cheapest fees and on and on and on.. I really have my doubts this recent price drop is a sign of anything too major. If anything.. I think it seems like an amazing opportunity to get some steem as a lower price.
And I'm not a financial adviser blah blah blah. Don't listen to me. I don't know much, this is just a random opinion on the internet and I think things look pretty good for steem longterm, they haven't even released the SMT's yet.. Or the mobile app.. Or numerous other things.
Anyways.. That's what I've been thinking lately and I do still want to look into the other new social media springing up, but I have my doubts steem will be disappearing any time soon. I guess we'll see, I don't know much.. Though I think it looks very positive for this platform into the future for a while! :)
K. Gonna go for a walk, hope you're having a good day out there!
PS.. I wanted to include a picture so I'm including a recent picture that did for our Information Finding Championship game here on steemit. :) If you are intrigued by the picture and might want to participate or know more feel free to ask! I'll do my best to answer when I get a chance.
