I find it quite interesting that just by looking at the speed of ones feed you can tell one or two things. One it is a Friday or Saturday night or the other one being that the price of Steem is down. In this case tonight it is both and kind of expected.
Rewinding back 6 months to a year ago Friday's and Saturdays were notoriously quiet anyway as most users hit this place hard Sunday night to Thursday night and then disappeared. I had a crazy feed then and it was like a non stop till roll spitting out mainly shit posts with a few exceptions.
As fun as it was that was the norm for me as I joined in March and the users were already slowly leaving as the Steem price had already halved by then. I have only know that as the busy period and think my timing was spot on as I missed most of the chaos yet still experienced what it was like to be caught up in it.
I had no idea and was wide eyed to what was going on. The good thing was I could hide away and play around learning without anyone noticing me. Personally I think it is a good thing that Steem plummeted the way it did over the last 18 months as it has given the block chain time to sort things out.
In March 2018 everyone was mentioning SMT's and the next wave of users and what did this place have to offer them? A blogging platform with busy.org as another alternative and a site called Steemhunt which was kicking off. That was it and in no shape to offer any entertainment for the masses.
Over the course of my journey on here many things have happened with new Dapps launching and some succeeding and others failing. Musing still has a pulse and there is still hope. What we have here today is great , but not great enough.
This place needs loads of things that draws in loads of people and entire families. The issue is we need hundreds of different things and I am hoping over the next 6 months we will see that happen. Steem is not ready and we have to understand that and not push it into the mainstream yet.
I understand everyone wanting Steem to climb up in value and we are all worth something and have financial freedom. Most of the users on here are as bad as the new generation wanting instant gratification. There is nothing wrong with that if you have the product to offer them and we don't.
This is a five year project and it could happen sooner as some of the gaming developers move over from the Etherium blockchain and a few others. From all accounts the bull run has started and most likely we will see a sudden interest in Steem from our dormant accounts at some point which will most likely slow down the development of this place. I expect more main stream adoption for Steem on the next bull run as by then we should be closer to where we should have been now.
The delays of SMT's did cost this place a lot and lost time is something we can't bring back. Now with and SMT's we should be back on track a year later than expected. In my head I am now saying not this year or next year but maybe the year after we can have everything ready and this place should explode with the kind of users we want.
