Justin Sun and Ned Scott have caused pandemonium.
Is that a good thing for Steem?
"Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered." - José Saramago
Yesterday the Steem community was running amok, frenzied with the news that Steemit had officially been sold (for an unknown amount) by Ned Scott () to Justin Sun (
) of Tron Foundation.
Today we gained more cognizance with a nearly hour long livestream where discussion ensued between Sun and Scott. I am not going to harp over the fact that Justin was off quite a bit with some of his wording in regards to some aspects of Steem, language barriers are a thing. I can’t imagine knowing two languages perfectly, English still hasn’t been perfected yet. The dude must have a lot of intelligence to be where he is. We’d be crazy to think he doesn’t understand blockchain just because he isn’t nearly as familiar with Steem/Steemit as it’s everyday users.
Ned got the ball rolling with a bit of background about the inception of Steemit and the Steem Blockchain with Dan Larimer. Shortly after, Justin did something simialr with a synopsis of Tron. BitTorrent, his educational background, and even some work history with Ripple.
We were ensured that the original goal of Steem is still going to be the active focus, at least for the next few years. No major overhauls right away. Decentralization is something Steem users are proud to stand by and wish to continue doing so. It's good to hear that Sun seems to have the same vision, now let us have proof of this early on.
Another thing that was mentioned was that there has been work on some sort of beta for quite sometime now, and something new will be released next week. There wasn't much clarity given on this, so much curiosity is brewing.

My notions
I love how thorough Ned was when explaining the concept of Steem to all of the users who are just learning about it for the first time. Justin also did a great job of bringing me up to speed with his accomplishments. The vibe felt as though the two were familiar with each other and had been talking about this happening for a long time. I understand why lurking in the shadows is advantageous, so I am not too upset about the fact that we were totally left in the dark about all of this until the day it all happened.
Justin made his first post on Steem (with his new Steemit Team account) and received a warm welcome form the community overall. Perhaps the success of his first post will encourage many new users to take the tine to see what has been going on with Steem the last 4+ years. I solemnly feel as though this is going to be great for the marketing of Steem as a whole.
I come out of all of this feeling pretty positive, although still a bit unsure how things are going to change (and how quickly). I am just keeping my vision aimed on building my Steem account to be something special that both others and myself can find joy in.
How are you feeling about all of this?
